Trial to begin for ex-Maui officer

Associated Press

WAILUKU, Maui — A former Maui police officer accused of demanding sexual acts from a woman in police custody is scheduled to go on trial Dec. 6 on felony charges.

Circuit Judge Joseph Cardoza ruled this week that there was sufficient evidence for the charges filed against Aaron Won, 25.

Won is charged with attempted first- and second-degree sexual assault, kidnapping and attempted second-degree extortion.

Won was working as a patrol officer when he stopped a 27-year-old woman for driving without a license on July 28. The woman told police that Won took her to the Napili police substation and then demanded sexual acts.

When the woman refused, she said she was arrested.
