Deborah Booker • The Honolulu Advertiser

The Honolulu Advertiser is back with its 2nd annual "Creations for a Cause" Christmas ornament fund-raiser. Last year, the online bidding raised $665 for charity. Our six Island artists — and our readers — face the stiff challenge of surpassing last year's total.

The eclectic group, including a quilter, a wood turner and glass and jewelry makers, has graciously volunteered time and talent to create miniature masterpieces.

The next step is up to you.

Bidding runs through 1 p.m. Dec. 7. The latest bids and brief profiles of each artist will remain on display throughout the bidding. Proceeds will go to The Advertiser Christmas Fund; donations are used by Helping Hands Hawai'i to assist those who need immediate help with rent, utilities or food.

Bidding starts at $10 for each piece. But keep in mind the artists' works have been valued from $20 to thousands of dollars. (Last year, two ornaments reached $175 in bids.)

Go ahead and click. Bookmark the site. From a koa ornament with 24 -karat gold leaf to a miniature feather lei, the creations come in all shapes, sizes, colors and mediums.

Winners will be notified Dec. 8. And if you're not the highest bidder, you can still make a donation.

Here's the rundown on each ornament, and the artists:

 • Golden Koa
 • Kimono and The Baseball Player Pocket Pal
 • Dreams
 • Christmas Bells
 • Christmas Critter Star
 • Leopard Pendant Ornament
 • Christmas-tree lamp
