Seventy-five sailors from Patrol Squadron Four left yesterday for locations in the Western Pacific in support of military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The sailors deployed from Marine Corps Base Hawai'i at Kane'ohe were among 390 being sent to support the 5th and 7th Fleet operations. They are commanded by Cmdr. David Smith and will participate in anti-submarine warfare, reconnaissance, intelligence and surveillance over a six-month period.
Patrol Squadron Four, the "Skinny Dragons," was sent to the Middle East in late 2001 and flew more than 500 combat missions over Afghanistan, Navy officials said.
