Holiday-inspired art showing in JCC gallery

"Tinkered and Toyed," an exhibition of art pieces inspired by the various winter holidays, will open with a free public reception at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i Community Gallery.

The exhibit, the second in the center's visual arts series, will be open through Dec. 29. It will feature works by 42 Hawai'i artists who designed pieces using the themes of Hanukkah, Christmas, Buddha Day and Kwanzaa.

The artists featured in this exhibit are: Satoru Abe, Ann Asakura, Fred Bannan, David Behlke, Mariko Chang, Kandi Everett, Daria Fand, Kazu Fukuda, Tracy Gunn, Keiko Hatano, Paul Hosch, Brendan Jackson, Jon Ikegami, Tsugumi Iwasaki-Higbee, Carl Jennings, Corinne Kamiya, Jessica Kim-Campuspos, John Koga, James Kuroda, Hal Lum, Loreen Matsushima, Bernie Moriaz, Kay Mura, Lisa Nakagawa, Gary Nakamoto, Lorenzo Netulda, Dan Nishiyama, Lori Ohtani, Ann Oshita, Duane Preble, Rich Richardson, Fred Roster, Mo Sato, Frank Sheriff, Russell Sunabe, Cynthia Takamiya, Noe Tanigawa, Jason Teraoka, Reiko Trow, Shuzo Uemoto, Roy Venters and Pat Walker.

During the opening reception, visitors can enjoy classic rock music by the band Indenial (whose members are Clarence Lee, Rob Estepa, Jon Tamayori and Lincoln Chee).

Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
