This year, skip the Christmas stressing

Have a good Thanksgiving? Are the leftovers taken care of, the dishes put away and the house back in order?

Good. Because now it's time to start stressing about Christmas. Get those cards in the mail. Find a tree that fits your house and your budget.

Get those packages into the mail for Mainland friends and relatives, if it isn't too late already to take advantage of the best rates and still get them there in time.

Get the outside lights up — be careful on that ladder! Find just the right present for Uncle Keoki, who seems to have everything and likes nothing.

Get going on ... wait!

How about taking things a bit slower this year and finding time to truly enjoy the spirit of the holidays? Plan some quiet time with friends and family. If the holiday season makes you feel generous, what about sharing some of what you have with those who have less?

Take in a Christmas show, play, recital or musical performance. Hit the shopping malls, sure. But drop by the more leisurely confines of a neighborhood craft fair.

Remember what the season is all about. It's not about stress; it is about sharing.
