Writing, illustrating books for children focus of workshop

The Hawai'i chapter of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators has designed a workshop for those interested in publishing or producing works for children here in the Islands. It's planned for 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 16.

Speakers include publisher Buddy Bess of Bess Press, Jane Hopkins of Mutual Publishing, Theresia Howe of Island Heritage and artistic director Mark Lutwak of the Honolulu Theatre for Youth.

Cost is $25 for society members, $30 for nonmembers. Information and location: 377-5651.
