Hittle's effort propels Rainbows to No. 4 in volleyball

Advertiser Staff

A sweep of its first roadtrip of the season has propelled the University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team to fourth place in this week's USA Today/College Sports Television Top 25 Coaches poll and earned right side hitter Tara Hittle Western Athletic Conference player of the week honors.

The Rainbow Wahine defeated Fresno State (3-1) and Nevada (3-2) on the road to raise their record to 12-0 and move up from sixth place in the previous week's poll.

Hittle just missed a triple-double at Fresno State where she hit .625 with 22 kills, 10 digs and seven assists. She backed that with a 19-kill, .545 hitting night at Nevada.

The WAC honor for Hittle, a freshman from Colorado Springs, Colo., was her first. It was the second for a Rainbow Wahine this season.
