State Consumer Advocate John Cole is urging the public to express their views concerning a proposed $1.65 billion sale of Verizon Hawaii to The Carlyle Group at a hearing tomorrow.
The only state Public Utilities Commission hearing scheduled for O'ahu on the deal starts at 6 p.m. in the State Capitol auditorium, basement level, at 415 S. Beretania St.
"These hearings are especially valuable to us in assessing and understanding the needs and concerns of consumers throughout Hawai'i," Cole said.
Among the issues Cole said will be addressed are whether Carlyle can provide reliable service to consumers and that there be a smooth transition between the companies.
