MICHAEL HARRIS, a 21-year veteran of Fox station KHON-TV (channel 2) who as news producer oversaw all station productions, including directing the repeatedly top-ranked evening news, has joined PBS Hawaii (KHET-11) as vice president of creative services. He replaces Richard Morris, who retired in July.

• Six-year finance veteran SEITOKU TAKAHASHI has been named American Savings Bank assistant vice president and financial consultant. He was previously an investment adviser and registered representative at John Hancock Financial Services.

• The U.S. Postal Service has named Duke Gonzales public affairs and communications specialist for the Honolulu District, covering Hawai'i, American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands. GINA CHUN, with the Hawai'i Visitors and Convention Bureau's regional office in San Francisco from 1996 to 2000, has returned to Hawai'i — and HVCB — to become director of consumer marketing. She will be responsible primarily for HVCB's leisure marketing program and promotional strategies to reach North American consumers.

DEAN KAPOI has been named director of labor relations for Young Brothers Ltd. and Hawaiian Tug and Barge, assuming a key role in negotiating collective bargaining agreements between the interisland cargo companies and the ILWU (International Longshore and Warehouse Union) and the IBU (Inlandboatmen's Union of the Pacific.) Kapoi joined Young Brothers/Hawaiian Tug and Barge in 1999 as personnel and industrial relations specialist, and was promoted to administrator of labor contracts in 2001. Young Brothers provides interisland cargo service statewide. Hawaiian Tug provides contract towing service, ship assists, barge charters and related marine services. Interisland barge service by the two companies was interrupted by a three-day strike this past July.

• The Hawaii State Teachers Association has named veteran labor advocate and manager RAY CAMACHO deputy executive director of the group, which represents more than 13,000 public school teachers statewide. Camacho will serve as HSTA's liaison with the state Department of Education, teachers and community organizations. He was, most recently, communications director for state Sen. Brian Kanno. He is a 20-year veteran of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU), Local 142, including acting as O'ahu Division director, business agent and organizer.
