O'ahu taekwondo athletes strike gold

Jaime Cajimat, the current U.S. junior national champion, helped the O'ahu Tae Kwon-Do Center team capture six gold medals at the Tekno/Poos Bros. Taekwondo Championships last weekend in Oklahoma City.

Cajimat, a 13-year-old from St. Joseph School in Waipahu, won the 12-13 age division at 89 pounds and below.

Also winning gold medals were: Jarred McKee, 14, in the 14-17 flyweight division; Brassie Anderson, 21, in the featherweight division; Cale Horibe, 22, in the finweight division; Jensen Ishida, 13, in the 12-13 middleweight division; and David Deponte, 14, in the red belt division.

Winning silver medals were: Kaitlyn Connolly, 14, in the 14-17 flyweight division; Anju Jason, 17, in the open division; and Jaysen Ishida, 12, who lost to his brother, Jensen, in the 12-13 middleweight division.

Jason Sam, 14, won the bronze in the 14-17 flyweight division.

The O'ahu Tae Kwon-Do Center team will next compete at the United States Senior Nationals and Junior Blackbelt Festival next month in Colorado Springs.
