Man, 32, allegedly fired gun in home

A 32-year-old Liliha man was arrested for suspicion of first-degree reckless endangering after he fired two shots from a handgun into the floor of his home about 11:30 last night.

Police said the man had been arguing with a friend when he went to his bedroom, retrieved the gun and fired it into a stack of telephone books on the floor to make his point.

No one was injured in the incident.

Man, 44, arrested in car-theft case

A 44-year-old Makiki man was arrested for suspicion of car theft at 10:15 a.m. yesterday after a passer-by became suspicious and called police.

Patrol officers responded to a nuisance complaint and met with the caller, who filed the complaint on Ke'eaumoku Street. The caller pointed out several people in a parked car as the source of the complaint. When officers checked the license plate, they learned the car had been reported stolen from an 82-year-old man.

Police determined that the man they saw sitting in the driver's seat was the one who drove the car to where it was found, so they arrested him.

Two men, ages 18 and 38, were arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft yesterday after Wahiawa police officers saw them each riding a moped at different times in an area near Kamehameha Highway and Wilikina Drive.

The officers checked on the moped, determined that it had been reported stolen and arrested the two men.

Police said the man was detained about 7:45 p.m. and that items that appeared to have been stolen elsewhere were found on him.
