Honolulu gas price hits new high

The average price for regular gasoline hit a record $2.276 a gallon in Honolulu, according to a survey released yesterday by AAA travel club. That puts the price at the pump about 24 cents higher than one year ago.

In Wailuku, Maui, the average for regular was $2.649 a gallon — 2 cents below a record set June 23. In Hilo, the average was $2.346 a gallon — nearly 10 cents below a record set July 31.
