Mark Twain classic takes to Windward stage

It's time to turn back the clock to the 1840s for tonight's opening of "Big River — The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," at the Windward Community College Paliku Theatre.

Directed by Ron Bright, the shows start at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and

Saturdays and 4 p.m. on Sundays, through Nov. 7. The musical is based on the Mark Twain novel.

Been here so long you forgot how to do a tie?

Most Island men don't wear ties all that often, so it's easy to forget how to tie one on.

To get the ends to come out evenly — or as close to even as possible — use a standard four-in-hand knot, and start with the wide end of the tie hanging one foot lower than the narrow end. (This will only work if you are tying a high-quality full-length tie, not a $2 one from the swap meet).
