Futures qualifying scheduled

Advertiser Staff

Qualifying for the Hilton Waikoloa Village Futures Tournament is Oct. 22 to 24 at the resort's Kohala Tennis Garden on the Big Island. Winners of the qualifying tournament receive entry into the $15,000 Hilton Waikoloa Futures, Nov. 6 to 14.

Earlier this month, Jan Tribler won singles and Malino Oda and Ryan Sceats captured the doubles to earn wild cards into the main draw of the Honolulu Futures, Nov. 13 to 21 on O'ahu.

Futures tournaments are typically the proving ground for top-ranked juniors, college players and pros at the beginning of their careers. Players usually have ATP Entry System rankings between 150 and 900.

The next step up is Challenger events. The $100,000 Hilton Waikoloa Village men's and women's Challengers will return to the Big Island for a seventh year, Jan. 25 to 30.
