Car-theft suspect faces drug charges

A 34-year-old man arrested on suspicion of car theft in Kane'ohe yesterday faces drug charges as well.

Police said a patrol officer spotted the car, which matched an all points bulletin that had been broadcast earlier.

A check of the car's license plate showed it had been reported stolen, police said.

The patrol officer ordered the man to pull over but he tried to speed away, crashed the car and then got out and ran.

He was found nearby and arrested on suspicion of car theft as well as promotion of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia after officers reported finding the drugs and equipment while taking the man into custody.

Man allegedly stole motorcycle

A 24-year-old man was arrested in 'Aiea yesterday afternoon on suspicion of stealing a motorcycle after a friend of the motorcycle's owner saw it being driven by someone else.

The friend called police about 4:30 p.m. and officers ordered the motorcycle operator to pull over. Instead, the motorcycle rider tried to evade police but crashed while trying to speed away.

As they were arresting the man, police learned he was on probation for a prior motor vehicle theft conviction.

Altercation at bus stop leads to arrest

A 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault after an altercation early today at a Kailua bus stop.

Police said a 45-year-old man had been drinking with acquaintances near the bus stop when one of them "conked" him on the head with a bottle.

The injured man was taken to Castle Medical Center to be treated for his injuries but apparently walked away unnoticed, police said.
