ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
'Shark Tale' swims away with ticket sales

Advertiser Staff and News Services

"Shark Tale" remained the big fish at the box office, taking in $31.7 million to hold the No. 1 spot for a second straight weekend, the Associated Press reported.

Billy Bob Thornton's "Friday Night Lights" debuted in second place with $20.6 million, according to early studio estimates.

Another holdover, the firefighting drama "Ladder 49," came in third with $13.3 million, while Queen Latifah and Jimmy Fallon's action comedy, "Taxi," took in $12.7 million and Hilary Duff's "Raise Your Voice" debuted with $4.6 million.

Wanted: an Islander who could use a $50,000 head-to-toe makeover

The difference between ABC's "Extreme Makeover" and the locally conceived "Dream Makeover Hawai'i" project? It's "aloha" — say the creators, all O'ahu residents — a careful and nurturing approach to the makeover process.

Other than that, the concepts are quite similar: A team including a cosmetic surgeon, cosmetic dentist and fitness trainer will work their magic — about $50,000 worth — on one winner.

Entrants must be U.S. citizens and Hawai'i residents 21 or older. Rules and entry forms are online at www.dreammakeoverhawaii.com; video entries will be accepted by mail through Oct. 19.

FINAL WORD

Stacey R. | After the soon-to-be-fired Pamela (pictured) criticized Stacey's handling of legal matters during last week's episode of "The Apprentice," Stacey fired back:

"I'm not going to act unethically. You want another Enron on your hands, Mr. Trump? Here's Pamela."
