Help sought in search for man, 87

HILO, Hawai'i — Big Island police are asking for the public's help in finding an 87-year-old man who reportedly wandered away from his Kailua, Kona, home on Oct. 6.

Miyose
Big Island fire and police search crews have been looking for Anthony T. Miyose since he disappeared from his home off Hualalai Road.

Miyose is described as 5 feet 1 and 115 pounds. He has thinning gray hair and glasses, and was last seen wearing an orange aloha shirt and mustard-colored pants.

Miyose reportedly suffers from dementia and was on medication that makes him sleepy.

Anyone with information on Miyose's whereabouts is asked to call the Kona police at 326-4646 or the police nonemergency number at 935-3311.



Officer hit by car in fair condition

A Honolulu police officer was reported in fair condition yesterday at The Queen's Medical Center after being hit by a car Sunday night while directing traffic on Farrington Highway in Nanakuli.

Officer David Cavaco, 28, was hit about 10 p.m. Sunday while he was directing traffic because of work on a waterline replacement project.

Police said Cavaco was on special duty, directing traffic on Farrington near Mohihi Street on behalf of Delta Construction, when a Chevrolet Corsica driven by a 45-year-old Wai'anae man failed to stop and hit Cavaco.

The driver stopped and was cited for not having a license, insurance, a current safety check or current registration. The driver was also arrested on several outstanding contempt of court warrants, police said.

It was the second recent traffic accident involving a Honolulu police officer. Officer Scott Goeas was injured Friday morning when a suspected drunken driver ran a red light and crashed his late-model Toyota truck into Goeas' Dodge Durango in Mililani. Goeas received neck and leg injuries but was treated and released.



Suspect in club stabbing sought

Police are looking for an assailant who stabbed a 36-year-old man early yesterday during an altercation at a nightclub on Dillingham Boulevard.

Police said the stabbing victim got into a fight with the man at the C'est La Vie nightclub, 1007 Dillingham Blvd., about 3 a.m., during which the man told the victim he was going to kill him.

The man pulled a knife and slashed the victim before running away, police said

The man who was stabbed was taken to The Queen's Medical Center where he was treated and released.



Man accused in assault of teen

Police arrested a 30-year-old Wai'anae man on suspicion of third-degree sexual assault and kidnapping after a 13-year-old girl reported that she was attacked early Sunday at a housing complex on Ala Hema Street.

The girl told police she was at a party with friends when the man grabbed her by the neck and dragged her through the housing complex while fondling her.

Police found the man and arrested him.
