Two boys suspected in home burglary

Two Mililani boys, both 14, were arrested yesterday in connection with a burglary on Sunday at the home of one of the boy's neighbors.

A 38-year-old Mililani man told police his home was broken into on Sunday and that a large amount of cash was taken. Yesterday, the man's neighbor told police she found her runaway son breaking into their own home.

The woman told police the son later admitted that he and another boy had burglarized the neighbor's home.

Both of the boys were arrested to suspicion of first-degree burglary and released without charges pending further investigation.

Men nabbed in alleged forgeries

Two Kaimuki men, ages 36 and 39, were arrested yesterday in connection with an alleged forgery scheme.

Police said one of the men would deposit forged checks into the other man's checking account and funds would be withdrawn before the bank could determine the checks were forged.

Police said the scheme worked briefly because the suspect's account and the forged checks were from the same bank, resulting in an immediate transfer of funds.

The two were arrested on suspicion of second-degree forgery.
