A man accused of abducting a 17-year-old girl from a downtown Honolulu street corner Oct. 2, holding her captive for more than eight hours, sexually assaulting her repeatedly and injecting her with methamphetamine pleaded not guilty at his arraignment today in Circuit Court on felony charges.

Defendant Anton Myklebust, right, appeared with Deputy Public Defender Tyrus Buyama during his arraignment yesterday in Circuit Court via video hookup from the O'ahu Community Correctional Center.

Anton Myklebust, 26, who appeared in court via a video hookup from the O'ahu Community Correctional Center, was given a trial date of Dec. 15 although that date will most likely be pushed back as the case progresses.

Circuit Judge Richard Perkins confirmed bail for Myklebust at $500,000 and assigned the case to Circuit Judge Steven Alm.

Myklebust was indicted by an O'ahu grand jury Oct. 7 on 15 counts that included 10 counts of sexual assault, credit-card theft, second-degree robbery, unlawful methamphetamine trafficking and two counts of kidnapping.

The girl told police that she got into a Big Brothers and Big Sisters van after its driver, later identified as Myklebust, asked for directions. She said the driver took her to various locations in Honolulu, assaulted her, took her bank card and forced her to surrender her bank-account identification number.

Myklebust did not speak during the arraignment.
