Debate on 'Olelo covers ballot issue

Tonight's live one-hour political debate on 'Olelo Community Television's Channel 54 at 6:30 p.m. will cover Ballot Question No. 4, a constitutional amendment to permit criminal charges to be initiated through direct filing without a grand jury or judicial hearing, and other proposed changes to Hawai'i's Bill of Rights. The debate will be moderated by Robert Rees and will feature First Deputy Attorney General Richard T. Bissen Jr. and Honolulu Prosecutor Peter Carlisle arguing in favor and Public Defender Susan Arnett and criminal defense attorney William Harrison arguing against.
Board of Education candidates will speak in a forum at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today.
The free event will be held in the School of Architecture auditorium, Room 205.
It will be webcast on the Internet and taped for broadcast on 'Olelo. Some free parking will be available in the lot on University Avenue between the School of Architecture and the College of Business Administration.
