CONCERT: Oct. 23

Open your arms for a trip through the '80s as the pop-rock tunes of Journey come soaring this way. The hit band returns to Honolulu, minus lead singer Steve Perry, for more nostalgic tunes such as "Who's Crying Now," "Don't Stop Believin'" and "Be Good to Yourself." Tickets are $45 and $55.

Juggling, wild antics and bad jokes are promised in "Life: A Guide for the Perplexed," the latest offering by the Flying Karamazov Brothers, left. The team of non-brothers, non-flying but very entertaining fellows was last in Honolulu in 1999. In "Perplexed," a mysterious Man in Black gives the brothers a box that contains a book with rules, parables and puzzles to cope with the challenges of life. Tickets are $22 general, $15 students and seniors.

The Philippines' princess Lea Salonga, below, brings her delicate songbird vocals to Hawai'i. Best known for her role as Kim on Broadway's "Miss Saigon," Salonga's theater career also includes appearances in "Les Miserables" and "Flower Drum Song." Salonga's sweet voice can also be heard in the hit Disney films "Aladdin" and "Mulan." Tickets: $35 and $45.

More than two decades after its premiere at Kennedy Theatre at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa, the widely acclaimed "Manoa Valley" returns with its original creative team of writer Edward Sakamoto and director Glenn Cannon and original cast members Stan Egi, Darryl Tsutsui (left) and Kati Kuroda (right). It's a nostalgic look at Hawai'i just before statehood, focusing on a local Japanese family. Tickets — $15 general, $12 seniors, military, UH faculty/staff, $10 non-UHM students, $3 UHM students — go on sale Oct. 18.

Bring in the noise, bring in the funk ... and the salsa and the hip-hop and the bumps as Ozomatli returns to our shores. The Grammy award-winning multicultural band offers a great blend of sound acclaimed by critics everywhere. Hits include "Cut Chemist Suite," "O Le Le" and "Cumbia de Los Muertos." Tickets for the 21-and-older show are $17.50 advance, and $25 at the door. Pay up $30 if you come without a costume.

The world-famous Harlem Gospel Choir brings its fabulous harmonies to Honolulu with the "Give Peace a Chance World Tour." The tour has taken the talented 13-member choir to Eastern Europe, South America, the French West Indies, Britain, Ireland and Northern Ireland. Tickets: $10-$35.

To the delight of girls and admiring boys, singer/actress Hilary Duff brings her sugary sweet tunes to a concert at the Blaisdell Arena. Best known for her role as the title character on the Disney Channel's hot "Lizzie McGuire" series, Duff is also a recording artist; her debut solo album "Metamorphosis" included the teeny-bopper hits "So Yesterday" and "The Math." Tickets are $48.

Hawai'i Pacific University Theatre opens its 2004-2005 season with Neil Simon's acclaimed comedy "Broadway Bound." Part three of Simon's autobiographical trilogy continues looking at the lives of Eugene Jerome and his older brother Stanley as they attempt to become professional comedy writers while dealing with the possibility of a family split. Joyce Maltby directs. Tickets: $20 general, $14 students, seniors, military, HPU faculty and staff and $3 HPU students. Discounted prices available on Thursdays.

T.S.O.L., right, returns to Hawai'i to help celebrate the DVD release of "T.S.O.L. Live In Hawaii." Rock on to the True Sounds of Liberty as these Orange County boys bring down the house. Local rockers The Enhancements, The Hell Caminos and The Grave Robbers open. Tickets for the all-ages bash are $10 advance, $15 at the door.

Army Community Theatre follows up its stellar season opener with the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical "The King and I." English widow Anna (Tina Shelton, right) heads for Bangkok to tutor the wives and children of the King of Siam (Ray Bumatai, left) amidst a musically rich backdrop filled with tunes such as "I Have Dreamed" and "Shall We Dance?" Sedaka show added

Tickets go on sale today for a second show — 7:30 p.m. Dec. 11 at the Hawai'i Theatre— by pop legend Neil Sedaka. Sedaka, whose hits include "Calendar Girl," "Breaking Up is Hard to Do" and "Sweet Sixteen," also performs Dec. 10. Tickets are $25, $37.50 and $45 at the box office and at www.hawaiitheatre.com.

Richard Thompson gig

Richard Thompson, the acclaimed folk/rock songwriter/ guitarist, is coming for a two-night gig at the Doris Duke Theatre at the Honolulu Academy of Arts. Nov. 19's show is all Thompson as he looks back at his 35 years in the biz. Nov. 20's show is titled "1,000 Years of Popular Music," commissioned by Playboy magazine and the Getty Museum. It's a history of song from the 12th century and into the present. The Bobby Ingano Trio, featuring classic Hawaiian steel guitar, is special guest. Tickets — $50 advance for both evenings, $30 advance per show, $35 at the door per show — go on sale today at the front desk of the museum, Island Guitars (Ward Warehouse) and Hungry Ear (Kailua).
