Formula kills odors in upholstery

By Glenn Haege

Q. My cat got angry and decided to use my couch as her litter box. I have had the couch cleaned professionally and still cannot get the urine smell out. Do you know of a product that will help?

A. Scott Andros of Twin Star Industries is an expert on eliminating odors. His weapon of choice is TwinStar's AtmosKlear Odor Eliminator. Here is the procedure: Lightly spray AtmosKlear over the infected area. Make sure the spray comes in direct contact with the odor source. Brush the formula into the upholstery surface. Take foam out of seats or pillows if possible. Spray both the fabric and the foam.

To make certain you make direct contact with the odor source in the foam, press down with the palm of your hand; hold for a few seconds, then slowly release, wicking the formula into the foam.

If the odor is deeply embedded, you may need to inject the AtmosKlear formula deep inside the foam. Inject multiple times about two inches apart. After each injection, pull out the needle and push down on the spot hard with the palm of your hand.

Q. I will be painting my house trim, and the peak is about 22 feet from the ground. Allowing for angle and extension overlap, what size extension ladder do I need to safely reach this height?

A. You need a 32-foot ladder if the height from the support is 21 1/2 to 25 feet. Consider renting the ladder, if you are not going to become a professional painter, and deal with a ladder specialist.
