Trial set in kidnap-assault of teen

A man accused of abducting a 17-year-old girl from a downtown Honolulu street corner Oct. 2, holding her captive for more than eight hours, sexually assaulting her repeatedly and injecting her with methamphetamine pleaded not guilty at his arraignment yesterday in Circuit Court on felony charges.
Jeff Widener • The Honolulu Advertiser Circuit Judge Richard Perkins confirmed bail for Myklebust at $500,000 and assigned the case to Circuit Judge Steven Alm.
Myklebust was indicted by an O'ahu grand jury Oct. 7 on 15 counts, including 10 counts of sexual assault, credit-card theft, second-degree robbery, unlawful methamphetamine trafficking and two counts of kidnapping.
The girl told police she got into a Big Brothers and Big Sisters van after its driver, later identified as Myklebust, asked for directions. She said the driver took her to various locations in Honolulu, assaulted her, took her bank card and forced her to surrender her bank-account identification number.
Myklebust did not speak during the arraignment.

Anton Myklebust, 26, who appeared in court via a video hookup from the O'ahu Community Correctional Center, was given a Dec. 15 trial date, although that most likely will be pushed back as the case progresses.
