Mariotte, an Arizona resident, has written several novels based on popular TV shows including "Angel," "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Charmed," "CSI: Miami," and "Star Trek." He's set to speak:

  • 3 p.m. next Thursday at 'Aina Haina Public Library and 6 p.m. at Hawai'i State Library-Young Adult Section

Teens are invited to attend this special "Fright Writer" program, which is designed to encourage young adults to read for fun and to hear how the author writes teen horror genre books.

The author's appearances on O'ahu are being supported by grants from the Friends of the Library of Hawaii, Hawaii Library Foundation (Kane'ohe and Kapolei programs), and by local friends chapters.

For information, contact Hillary Chang, young adult librarian of Waikiki-Kapahulu Public Library, at 733-8488.
