Crimestoppers Hawai'i benefit swings into action

"Take a Swing at Crime in the Sony Open," a benefit for Crimestoppers Hawai'i, begins tomorrow at the Hawai'i Kai and Barbers Point Golf Courses. The promotion will run through December.
Players who give a $10 donation receive a free one-day ticket to the 2005 Sony Open in Hawai'i, Jan. 10 to 16 at Waialae Country Club. They also get a swing at winning prizes and playing their way into the Sony Open Million Dollar Shot event.
The promotion is run by Friends of Hawai'i Charities, host of the annual PGA Tour event. It moves to Pearl Country Club and Waikele the following Saturday. For a list of future sites and dates, call 523-7888 or visit friendsofhawaii.org. The seventh edition of 808Golf TV will be a half-hour highlight show featuring the 31st Waikoloa Open. The broadcast airs Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. on Oceanic Cable channel 16.
Joe Phengsavath won the tournament on Sept. 26, beating out Jerry Mullen by one stroke and Kevin Hayashi, Regan Lee and Casey Nakama by two. Michelle Wie tied for 14th.
Dave Vinton and Scotty Blaisdell host the show.
