New-home sales surge on O'ahu

New-home sales on O'ahu rose 13 percent in September on a surge of vacation home sales at Ko Olina Resort & Marina.Centex Homes sold 149 homes at the resort last month, representing a little more than half of September's 294 sales that compared with 261 a year earlier, according to a report released today by market researcher Ricky Cassiday for Hawaii HomeLoans.
The average sales price was $611,542, up nearly $200,000 compared with September 2003, largely due to 47 Centex homes that sold for $1.1 million each.
