HILO, Hawai'i — The Daughters of Hawai'i will present a free concert Sunday at Hulihe'e Palace in memory of Princess Ka'iulani.

The event will include performances by the Merrie Monarchs and Kumu Hula Etua Lopes and his Halau Na Pua Ui O Hawai'i. Seating is limited, and organizers suggest visitors bring a beach mat or chair.

The show begins at 4 p.m., but spectators are invited to come early and tour the palace at 75-5718 Ali'i Drive in Kailua. Admission is $6.

Princess Victoria Kawekiu Lunalilo Kalaninuiahilapalapa was the last heir to the Hawaiian throne. Born in 1875 to Princess Miriam Likelike, she was the niece of King Kalakaua. Her father was an Edinburgh Scot named Archibald Cleghorn, who was a governor of O'ahu.

She was 23 years old when she died in 1898.
