University of Hawai'i quarterback Tim Chang was selected today as one of nine finalists for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, presented annually to the nation's top senior collegiate quarterback.

Chang, a Saint Louis graduate, needs 559 yards to break the NCAA career passing record of 15,031. He is third nationally in total offense with 325.6 yards per game this season.

Hawai'i will host San Jose State on Saturday in a Western Athletic Conference game.

Other finalists include Jason Campbell (Auburn), Charlie Frye (Akron), David Greene (Georgia), Stefan LeFors (Louisville), Dan Orlovsky (Connecticut), Kyle Orton (Purdue), Andrew Walter (Arizona State) and Jason White (Oklahoma).

The winner will be announced Dec. 1, with the award presentation to be made at Louisville, Ky., on Dec. 10 at the Clarion Conference Center.

Former recipients include Mississippi quarterback Eli Manning, who won the award last year, his older brother Peyton Manning (Tennesee, 1997), David Carr (Fresno State, 2001), and Carson Palmer (USC, 2002).
