QUICK BITES
Share your ways of helping your kids eat more healthful meals

Advertiser Staff

If you've had some success with sneaking good nutrition into your children's diet, lightening up favorite recipes or developing dishes that are easy and veggie-driven, the Friends of Koko Head Elementary School would like to hear from you.

To celebrate the school's 50th anniversary, they are putting together a cookbook focused on healthful, family-friendly recipes (indulgence allowed in dessert chapter). The book is due out next spring.

To share a recipe or learn more, write to paulabender@hotmail.com or write Koko Head Elementary School, 50th Anniversary Cookbook, Friends of Koko Head SCBM, 189 Lunalilo Home Road, Honolulu, HI 96825. Be sure to include contact information (not for publication, but so they can reach you).

Treat yourself nicely with a night on the town

The YWCA of O'ahu has put together an intriguing fund-raiser, "Downtown Decadence," that combines food, drink, music and spa-style treatments, perfect for a girlfriend night. It's set for 5 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at the Y's Richards Street building.

For $50, you can sip champagne or martinis, nibble appetizers created by Café Laniakea chef Joel Johnson, get a mini-manicure, a massage, a new hairstyle or a makeup makeover. There will also be a silent auction, including baked goods prepared by celebrities (or their chefs) as well as gift certificates and packages from local restaurants, bakeries, hotels, beauty and hair salons. Tickets: 538-7061, extension 234.
