Chang one of nine finalists for Unitas Golden Arm Award

University of Hawai'i quarterback Tim Chang was selected yesterday as one of nine finalists for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, presented annually to the nation's top senior collegiate quarterback.

Hawai'i vs. San Jose State

GATES: Stadium parking opens at 2:30 p.m. Stadium gates open at 3 p.m.

Chang, a Saint Louis graduate, needs 559 yards to break the NCAA career passing record of 15,031. He is third nationally in total offense with 325.6 yards per game this season.

Hawai'i will host San Jose State Saturday in a Western Athletic Conference game.

The other finalists are Jason Campbell (Auburn), Charlie Frye (Akron), David Greene (Georgia), Stefan LeFors (Louisville), Dan Orlovsky (Connecticut), Kyle Orton (Purdue), Andrew Walter (Arizona State) and Jason White (Oklahoma).

The winner will be announced Dec. 1, with the award presentation to be made at Louisville, Ky., on Dec. 10 at the Clarion Conference Center.

Former recipients include 2003 winner Eli Manning of Mississippi, Peyton Manning (Tennessee, 1997), David Carr (Fresno State, 2001) and Carson Palmer (USC, 2002).
