OIA ready to begin playoffs in volleyball

First-round action of the O'ahu Interscholastic Association boys volleyball playoffs starts Saturday at two sites.

At Leilehua, Roosevelt will play Mililani at 2 p.m., followed by Kaimuki against Leilehua.

At Moanalua, Castle meets Pearl City at 2 p.m., followed by Nanakuli against Moanalua

The top two seeds from the Eastern and Western divisions draw first-round byes. East champion Kalaheo, East runner-up Kahuku, West champion Waipahu and West runner-up Radford don't play until Wednesday's quarterfinals.

Girls first-round play does not start until Tuesday.

At Waipahu, Roosevelt will play Kapolei at 6 p.m. and Waipahu will face Kaiser at 7 p.m. At Kalani, Nanakuli will meet Farrington at 6 p.m. and Kalani will play Campbell at 7 p.m.

East top seed Moanalua, East second seed Kahuku, West champion 'Aiea and West runner-up Pearl City play their first matches in the quarterfinals on Oct. 28.
