Olympians visiting O'ahu schools today

Advertiser Staff

Two Olympians will be making speaking engagements today on O'ahu.

Susan Williams, who won the bronze medal of the triathlon in the Athens Olympics, will make appearances at Aliamanu Intermediate and Boca Hawai'i.

Also, Rob Muzzio, who placed fifth in the decathlon in 1992 in Barcelona, will speak at 9:30 a.m. at Kaimiloa Elementary in 'Ewa Beach and at 12:30 p.m. at Lanakila Elementary School in Kalihi.

Williams, who attended Aliamanu, will speak to students at 10:55 a.m. and will hold a press conference at 12:30 p.m.

She also will be at Boca Hawai'i (330 Cooke Street) from 7 to 8:30 p.m. to share her experiences.

Muzzio will relate his story as an elite athlete struggling to control his asthma. In 1984, he broke the collegiate decathlon record, but did not compete in the 1984 Olympics because of an asthma attack.

Muzzio also will be at the Bishop Museum Great Lawn Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. as part of Straub Foundation's interactive and motivational Keiki Asthma Fair.
