DENNIS WAGNER has been named general manager of the 521-room Wailea Marriott Resort on Maui. Wagner, who has been in hotel management for 31 years, also has held general-manager positions at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa in California, Chicago Marriott Downtown, Baltimore Marriott Hunt Valley Inn and Portland Marriott in Maine. He also served as vice president, room operations, at the Marriott corporate offices and as regional director of rooms for the chain's southwest region.
CLINT NAGATA and DEBORAH ROSENBLUM, have been promoted to director, architecture in the Honolulu office of Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo, Architects, Designers, Planners and Consultants. Nagata, who joined the firm in 1993 as designer, has handled projects in China and Southeast Asia, including sites in Bangkok and Phuket, Thailand; Da Nang, Vietnam; and Seoul, South Korea. Rosenblum, with the company since 1995, specializes in the area of renovation and high-end residential projects.
MICHAEL LEE has been named director of sales and marketing for the Kauai Coconut Beach Resort, as the 311-room oceanfront resort undergoes a $24 million renovation in preparation for reopening in January as the first Courtyard by Marriott in the state. Lee will be responsible for leisure and group sales in both the North America and Far East markets, as well as directing all marketing, advertising and public relations functions for the 10.5-acre Waipouli Beach property.
LANCE ICHIMURA has been promoted to vice president for Servco Pacific Inc.'s automotive retail division, overseeing the automotive marketing, service contract, finance and insurance departments. Also hired to join the firm's automotive management team is GARY A. HU, who will be director of fixed operations for the firm's Honolulu Group, which includes Toyota City, Motor Imports and Kaimuki Toyota. Also, KEITH NAKAMURA has been hired as acting general manager for Service Motors, Wahiawa. His 29-year career in the rental-car business has included, most recently, work as Hawai'i regional vice president, and general manager, for Budget Rent a Car.
SCOTT KAWASAKI has been named director of public relations and advertising at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort and Spa. He will oversee public relations efforts in the North American and Japanese markets, and local media, as well as handle advertising, and assist the director of sales and marketing. RODAHL LEONG-LYONS has been promoted to director of sales and marketing at the resort. She will oversee the entire sales and marketing team, covering the wholesale, independent, incentive, leisure and business travel segments, as well as public relations and advertising. YOKO TOKUNAGA has been promoted to director of international sales, with responsibilities for sales in Japan, China and the Korean Peninsula, as well as all non-U.S. markets. SEBANG OH has been promoted to associate director of sales.
