'Amasian' to be shown at 7 tonight

By Wayne Harada
Advertiser Entertainment Writer

"Amasian: The Amazing Asian," a film by Gerard Elmore featuring Paul Ogata, stand-up comedian and radio station deejay as an Asian-American superhero, will be shown at 7:30 tonight at the Signature Dole Cannery Theatres as part of the Louis Vuitton Hawaii International Film Festival's "Hawai'i Panorama 7" bill.

The film, about the hero who gets no respect in his attempts to thwart a giant meteor and the evil Wai'anae Man, is listed incorrectly in the festival's print literature but is posted correctly at www.hiff.org, the festival Web site.

The movie previously was scheduled on a shared bill with the adult-themed "Public Access," but the new slot is more suitable to the film's family orientation, said Ogata.

Tickets: $8 for adults; $7 for seniors, military, students and children 13 and younger; and $6 for festival members.
