Brigham Young University-Hawai'i, the two-time defending Pacific West Conference basketball champion, was the unanimous choice to win the title again in a poll of conference coaches released yesterday.

The Seasiders, ranked No. 22 in the nation by the Division II Bulletin, return forward Jake Chrisman, who was the 2003-'04 PacWest Player of the Year. BYUH was 26-6 overall and 13-2 in conference last year.

BYUH earned the first-place vote of all the other PacWest coaches and 50 points. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team. UH-Hilo (40) was picked second, followed by Montana State-Billings (36), Chaminade (24), Western New Mexico (16) and Hawai'i Pacific (14).

Chrisman, a 6-foot-9 senior from Provo, Utah, was a unanimous coaches' choice as the conference's top returning player. He led the league in scoring at 23.3 points per game last season.
