Man robs Waipahu store

Police are looking for a man who robbed Suzie's Adult Superstore in Waipahu yesterday.

The man entered the store about 9:50 p.m. waving a handgun at the cashier and demanding money, police said. He ran off with an undisclosed amount of money.

Witnesses told police he was wearing a gray, longsleeve shirt and aloha print surf shorts, appeared to be in his 40s and was about 5-foot-10 inches tall and 130 to 140 pounds.

Man inured in fight, stabbing

An argument between two men in the University area turned into a stabbing last night, but no one was seriously injured, police said.

The men, both 20, started fighting about 6:40 p.m. at a home behind Puck's Alley. One of the men stabbed the other in the abdomen and on both arms, police said. He was treated by paramedics and taken to The Queen's Medical Center and released in good condition.

The other man was arrested for investigation of second-degree assault after he identified himself to police who were at the scene.

Teens arrested in 'Ewa burglary

Two teenage boys were arrested for allegedly burglarizing an 'Ewa home yesterday evening, police said.

Both teenagers — one 15, the other 17 — were spotted on the roof of the home being burglarized by a neighbor, police said.

The 55-year-old witness grabbed his camera and began filming the boys as they carried items from the home.

The boys ran off when police arrived, although police nabbed one of them right away. The other one was caught in the yard of his home, which was next door to the home that was burglarized, police said.

The teenagers were arrested for investigation of first-degree burglary and were being held at the police cellblock this morning.

Two men fined for having monkey

State agriculture officials cited two men for possession of a small monkey which authorities confiscated Oct. 7 from a Makiki home.

Peter Hernandez, 52, was cited Oct. 15 for possession of a restricted animal without a permit, the Department of Agriculture said today. Hernandez had the 12-inch-tall squirrel monkey in his possession when state investigators and Honolulu Police Department Specialized Services Division officers raided his home. Hernandez was fined $1,000.

Darren Tsuchiya, 36, was the original, state-permitted owner of the monkey but was cited Oct. 8 because he sold it to Hernandez, who did not have a permit. Tsuchiya was fined $200 and also forfeited the $1,000 bond he had initially posted to own the monkey.

Primates are only allowed to be imported and kept in Hawai'i under a permit with specific conditions set by the state Department of Agriculture and with the approval of the Board of Agriculture.

The monkey will be transferred to the Pana'ewa Rainforest Zoo on the Big Island.
