DJ Mei Lwun spins

Mash-up master DJ Mei Lwun returns to Honolulu for a night at the Wonder Lounge during an UNO Records party. The next chapter at one of Hawai'i's hippest nightspots also features the hot Gina Rene. Resident DJs include Rayne, Byron the Fur, ShawnG and Gary-O. Mei Lwun also mixes it up in Waikiki this weekend during the Wave's Monster Mash-up Halloween Weekend. See Halloween calendar, Page 12.

Superhero Kikaida is back again

One, two, three, it's time to celebrate Kikaida! The Kikaida 30th anniversary festival coincides with the opening of the exhibit "Japanese Superheroes" for a full day of action-packed fun. Dress up as your favorite Kikaida characters and jump back to the time when the series ruled our TV sets. Festival highlights include appearances by Kikaida, Kamen Rider V3 and friends, autograph sessions and picture taking, new merchandise, food booths and a Kikaidology panel presentation. Entertainment includes Kutmaster Spaz, Lee Tonouchi, Hongwanji Mission Preschool Choir, Hawaii Matsuri Taiko and martial arts demonstrations by Hawaii Karate Association and Japan Karate Association of Hawaii.

Rock out at POPular

The new band Dewey Decimal Sister's of Lust, above, Starscream, Dead Monkeys, My Ex is Dead and Magnum Carnage will rock Club Pauahi as the monthly POPular event takes on a Halloween theme, "Labyrinth." The theme is taken from Jim Henson's film of the same name, but costume-wearing party-goers should not feel limited to "Labyrinth"-related attire. POPular is dedicated to promoting new Island bands, so show your support. It's easy on the wallet and it's open to fans of all ages. Doors open at 9:30 p.m.

Family-friendly fair at LCC

It's time for the 15th annual Leeward Community College Family Fun and Craft Fair. Educational activities in Discovery Square include interactive programs such as instant snow, fossil dig, spaghetti engineering, creature feature, polymer putty, DNA detectives, ti leaf making, logic puzzles, native Hawaiian plants, body art, bubble geometry and chemistry magic. Other activities include games, a white elephant, ceramics sale, new car show, craft booths and entertainment.

Rhodes brings the laughs

Stand-up comedian Tom Rhodes is ready to make Honolulu laugh, courtesy of The Laugh Factory. After breaking into the comedy scene as a teenager, Rhodes has gone on to appear in such TV shows as "The Tonight Show" and "The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn." Rhodes even starred in his own NBC sitcom, "Mr. Rhodes," in 1996. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Last weekend of 'AGA-BOOM'

"AGA-BOOM" winds up a 12-show run here this weekend with more comedy, craziness and charm. This theatrical clown show features veteran performers from Cirque du Soleil productions and the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus, plus original music by Vasily Bogatyrev. The two Halloween shows also include costume contests and giveaways.

Suga Suga celebrates its first year

Get ready to shake it up at the Suga Suga all-ages party and first birthday bash Monday night. The partying keeps going long after the Halloween costumes are put away, since there's no school on Tuesday. United DJs of Hawaii brings in two levels and two rooms of crazy hip-hop and bumping R&B. DJs 720, Mike D, Krazy K, James Coles and the MYH All-Stars will be bringing down the house. Mo Luv keeps it real by performing live. This party also is a fund-raiser for Musical Youth of Hawaii.

The monthly pau-hana arts celebration is the final one for this year as the group gears up to host Starlight Ball in January. ARTafterDARK returns in February 2005.

Reggae party is a year old

This Halloween weekend turns into a double celebration for the Lion's Den as the monthly reggae groove parties it up for its one-year anniversary. Get moving in any one of the three rooms of music with Ooklah the Moc offering up reggae sounds. Pacific Sounds Outernational DJs dropping some beats include DJ Liloa, Dunza, I-Chard, Mr. Bone and Kaikua with DJ Metal-X of KTUH also dropping by. Guests in the house include Mr. Mention and DJ Scotch Bonnett.
