Tonight's Must-See

Tonight on KHNL News 8

The countdown continues toward Decision 2004. Join us for our up-to-the-minute political coverage leading up to Tuesday's general election. Tonight at 6 and 10.

"Desperate Housewives," 9 p.m., ABC. OK, so we know this is a rerun, but it's a fun one. On the loopy-romance side, Edie (Nicollette Sheridan) heats up the competition with Susan (Teri Hatcher) for the neighborhood hunk. Gabrielle (Eva Longoria) tries to cover up her fling with a teenager with disastrous results. On the serious side, Lynette (Felicity Huffman) resists suggestions that she medicate her high-energy sons.

Of Note

"Hollywood's Creepiest Creatures," 2 p.m., rerunning at 5 p.m., Animal Planet. Critters keep being the villains in Hollywood movies. This special, which tops off the Animal Planet channel's "Howl-O-Ween" week, has lots of clips, including delightful ones from the 1950s, alongside some labored puns from Elvira. (Sample: "All they are saying is give bees a chance.") Some of the movies highlighted include "Willard," "The Fly" and Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds."

"Wes Craven Presents 'They,' (2002)" 5 p.m., Showtime. This thriller pretty much just carries Craven's name with little actual involvement from the horror master. Following the suicide of a friend, a college student starts experiencing a recurrence of night terrors she thought she'd outgrown. If you're into bleak endings, this one should more than satisfy.

"Monsters, Inc." (2001), 7 p.m., ABC. The network is airing this popular, computer-animated comedy tonight. It's from Pixar, the "Toy Story" people, and visits Monstropolis, which is fueled by the screams of frightened children.

"Scare Tactics," 7 and 7:30 p.m., NBC. NBC tosses in a couple episodes from the Sci Fi Channel, which it owns. "Scare Tactics" consists of cruel practical jokes. It will be followed at 8 p.m. by "Ghost Hunters," both are from Sci Fi's Wednesday lineup.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," 9 p.m., NBC. Here is a rerun that had been announced for a previous week. Ming-Na ("ER") helps with a case that involved human smuggling from China.

"Saturday Night Live," 10:30 p.m., NBC. Kate Winslet hosts. Eminem is musical guest. Let's hope he doesn't run into any computer problems like Ashlee Simpson did last week.
