Mayoral hopefuls raise $95K in two weeks

Mayoral candidate Mufi Hannemann raised $70,640 in major donations over the past two weeks, while opponent Duke Bainum raised $24,700, according to reports filed with the state Campaign Spending Commission.
The reports are the last required before Tuesday's election, and cover contributions of $500 or more made between Oct. 18 and 29.
The candidates together have spent more than $5.2 million on the race, making it Honolulu's most expensive mayoral contest ever.
Hannemann has raised more money from contributors, but Bainum has made major loans to his campaign that have allowed it to spend nearly twice as much as Hannemann's.
Bainum has raised more than $1.3 million from contributors, loaned his campaign $2.2 million and spent $3.5 million; Hannemann has raised $1.7 million, lent his campaign $165,000, and spent $1.8 million, including a loan repayment of $90,283.
The latest reports show that "we continue to get support from people who are digging deep, and we're very grateful," said Hannemann spokeswoman Elisa Yadao.
Bainum spokeswoman Phyllis Kihara said his campaign is also grateful.
"We appreciate all the help and support Duke has been getting," she said.
