STAGE/SCREEN

University of Hawai'i-Manoa auditions for the Oct. 29 through Nov. 7 production of Edward Sakamoto's pidgin play, "Manoa Valley," 3:30-6 p.m. today and tomorrow for UH students and faculty and 2-4:30 p.m. Saturday for community members in the Earle Ernst Lab Theatre. Auditions consist of reading from the script (scripts available at the Kennedy Theatre office). 956-2110.

The Kaimuki High School Performing Arts Center auditions students, grades 2 through 12 and recent graduates, for the November production of a musical "Wha'sup Fables 2004," a local-style telling of Aesop's Fables. Auditions for actors and singers, 3-6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and dancers 3-6 p.m. Sept. 9 at the school auditorium. Rehearsals begin after school and some weekends beginning in mid-September. Kumu Kahua Theatre auditions for the November production of Lee Cataluna'a comedy "Half Dozen Long Stem," 1-4 p.m. Sept. 11 and 6-9 p.m. Sept. 12. Roles include three local males (early 20s to early 40s), a local female (late teens to late 20s) and two local females (early 40s to early 60s). Auditions include cold readings from the script, some improvisation and simple movement work. 536-4222.

MUSIC/DANCE

Hawai'i Youth Opera Chorus auditions for the coming season for grades 2-3 at 8:30 a.m., grades 4-12 at 10:30 a.m., grades K-1 and boys with changed voices at 9:30 a.m. Saturday and Sept. 11, Kawaiaha'o Church basement. Students learn vocal technique, ear training, sight singing, music theory and history. Rehearsals every Saturday and performances scheduled through the end of the year. Hawai'i All-State High School Honor Choir auditions for students in grades 9-12 for the Jan. 22 and 23 festival and participation in the Jan. 20-23 music camp led by Bruce Rogers at Brigham Young University-Hawai'i.
