Farmer's market to open in Kailua
Advertiser Staff
The Kailua Thursday Night Farmers' Market will begin Sept. 9 in the Kailua Town Center parking garage. Hours are from 5 to 8 p.m.
More than two dozen vendors will participate in the weekly market, cosponsored by the Hawai'i Farm Bureau Federation and Kane'ohe Ranch Company Ltd. All fruits, vegetables, flowers and beef products sold at the market come exclusively from island farms, most of them on O'ahu.
The Hawai'i Tourism Authority will present its new strategic plan at a marketing committee meeting Sept. 8 at the Hawai'i Convention Center.
The strategic plan will measure success based on three pillars: economic growth and benefits, satisfied visitors and satisfied residents. "All three of these elements are essential to the long-term health of tourism in Hawai'i," said HTA board chairman John Toner. "We don't want to sell out who we are or what we stand for for the sake of growth."
