No. 11 Rainbow Wahine will host No. 3 UCLA

The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine, fresh off a 3-0 start to the season, moved up two spots to No. 11 on the USA Today/CSTV American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 Poll released yesterday.

Hawai'i received 930 points.

The top five positions remained the same with No. 1 USC (4-0) garnering 62 of the 65 first-place votes and 1,620 points. No. 2 Nebraska (2-0) received the other three first-place votes, followed by UCLA (4-0), Florida (4-0) and Minnesota (4-1).

Hawai'i will host UCLA, No. 17 Santa Clara (3-0) and Southwest Missouri State (5-0) in the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Volleyball Challenge, Thursday through Saturday, at the Stan Sheriff Center.

In other news, Boise State middle blocker Cameron Flunder was named Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. The Broncos, who won six matches last season, won four last week as Flunder averaged 4.57 kills and 1.0 blocks per game while hitting .500 (64 kills and 11 errors in 106 attempts).

Sophomore setter Kanoe Kamana'o, the Most Outstanding Player of the Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic, was Hawai'i's nominee.
