Meetings focus on safe drinking water

The state Health Department will hold public information meetings across the state during the next several weeks to discuss keeping Hawai'i's drinking water safe.
The department's Safe Drinking Water Branch is responsible for safeguarding public health by protecting Hawai'i's drinking water sources from contamination. Officials will present how sources are assessed, provide information on the reports and on what's being done to protect water sources, and identify how the community can become involved with source water protection.
The meetings are:
• Maui Monday, Lihikai School Cafeteria, 335 S. Papa Ave., Wailuku, 6:30 to 8 p.m.
• O'ahu Thursday, 919 Ala Moana Blvd., fifth-floor conference room, 5:30 to 7 p.m. Enter and exit via the parking-lot entrance.
• Kaua'i Sept. 23, Kaua'i District Health Office conference room, 3040 Umi St., Lihu'e, 5:30 to 7 p.m.
