• Two members of the Hilo Hattie management team are among seven Hawai'i business leaders chosen as members of a new advisory board responsible for setting long-term policies and strategies for the company, covering the retail, manufacturing, e-commerce, uniform and wholesale sectors. The company executives include JIM ROMIG, Hilo Hattie founder and chairman, and PAUL deVILLE, company president and chief executive officer. Rounding out the advisory group, the first one for the 41-year-old Hawaiian garment and merchandise company, are: RICHARD "DICK" BRADLEY, former Hawai'i restaurateur, real-estate developer and owner of Bradley Holdings; GEORGE BROWN, former president and chief executive officer of Jardines Insurance Americas; DAVID CAREY, chief executive officer, Outrigger Hotels; RICHARD "DICK" GUSHMAN, James Campbell Estate trustee; and TOMIO TAKI, former chairman of Anne Klein New York, and owner of Honolulu International Country Club.

JOHN F. SCHAPPERLE has been named to the newly created position of executive vice president at Island Insurance Companies. The 32-year industry veteran will be focused on developing long-range strategic plans and new opportunities for the property and casualty insurance firm.

KIMI MIKAMI YUEN has been promoted to firm associate at PBR Hawaii. Yuen joined the firm as a planner in 2000, following work as an environmental planner for another Honolulu firm; research assistant for the University of Hawai'i-Manoa's Department of Urban and Regional Planning; and a Hawaiian Electric Co. renewable energy project aide. She is managing Kaua'i master-plan projects for the Lihu'e Civic Center and Lihu'e-Hanama'ulu.

MAPU WRIGHT DILLINER has been promoted from senior sales manager to director of sales for Roberts Hawaii Inc. It is her fourth promotion in as many years since joining the tour-and-transportation company.

• Home-improvement center chain City Mill Co. Ltd. has announced the appointment of JOHN SEIDEL to assistant manager of the Kaimuki store. Five other City Mill employees were named supervisors: Josh Towne, Pearl City store; RICKY KAWAMOTO, Kaimuki store; NANCY ORGELES, Hawai'i Kai store; and RANDALL MORIWAKI and PAUL McGUIRK, Kane'ohe store.

MICHELLE "CHELLE" ANGEL, a veteran of more than 20 years of the restaurant and hotel industries, has been named general manager of KremeWorks HI, the franchise owner of Krispy Kreme in Hawai'i. She will oversee operations of the Maui factory store. Angel joined the company in 2003 as store manager at the Maui location and was promoted to state market training coordinator in May.

MIKE GROSSI, former senior vice president of Marsh Inc. insurance company's Honolulu office, has been named executive vice president of a new Atlas Insurance Agency Inc. division specializing in construction insurance services. The Construction Services Division is in partnership with insurance broker Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. and is, according to Grossi, the "first (insurance agency) division specializing in construction insurance, bonding and other services related to the (residential and commercial) construction industry."

AARON SATO has joined Finance Factors as assistant vice president in finance and will oversee all treasury functions of the bank.
