Farmers meet to discuss concerns over crop theft
Advertiser Staff and News Services
Dozens of farmers from around O'ahu met last night with lawmakers and farm advocates to express their concerns over agricultural thefts.
A show of hands indicated most of the farmers had experienced theft of crops. The farmers say the thieves often steal to buy illegal drugs, such as crystal methamphetamine.
The meeting was called after a man who allegedly was stealing crops was shot to death this week in Kahuku. Farmer Khamxath Baccam has been charged with second-degree murder.
