Suspected forger arrested at bank

A 50-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree forgery after attempting to cash a check, which police said was stolen, at about noon yesterday at a Pearl City bank.

Police said a teller noticed that the check appeared to have been altered and contacted the issuing bank, which said the account was closed because the check had been reported stolen.

Police were called, and the teller identified the suspect.

The man was released from custody pending further investigation.


Woman arrested in May car theft

A 20-year-old 'Ewa Beach woman was arrested yesterday in connection with a car theft that was reported in May.

Police said the woman crashed the car she was driving on May 22, and it was later learned the car had been stolen the day before from a home in 'Ewa Beach.

A photo lineup was held July 26, and the police officer who responded to the May 22 traffic incident was able to identify the woman involved in the collision.

Yesterday, officers from HPD's District 5 Crime Reduction Unit located the woman and arrested her on suspicion of auto theft. She was released pending further investigation.


Boys accused of theft from kiosk

Two boys, ages 13 and 15, may face burglary charges after allegedly breaking into a kiosk early yesterday morning at a Kuhio Avenue shopping area.

Police were called to 2290 Kuhio Ave. by security guards who had detained the boys after finding them taking things from the kiosk.

The kiosk owner was called and identified property recovered from the boys as hers.

Both boys were arrested on suspicion of second-degree burglary.
