Man arrested in threat with bottle

A 27-year-old Waipahu man was arrested on suspicion of terroristic threatening at about 11 p.m. last night after a police officer saw the man chasing a woman around a car with a broken bottle near Waipahu High School.

The officer, who was responding to an unrelated call, intervened and learned that the man and 33-year-old woman were married and were having an argument.

The husband also was arrested on suspicion of abuse of a household member.


Driver robbed of car at gunpoint

Police last night were looking for two men in their mid-20s who stole a car at gunpoint from a man near the Waipi'o Access Road Bridge in Waipahu.

The victim, 35, told police he was waiting for a friend near the bridge at about 10:40 p.m. when two men approached him. One of the men, holding a handgun, demanded the keys to the car and the driver complied, police said.

After the driver got out of the car, the two men got in and drove away, police said.


Suspect arrested in theft of car

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of car theft in Waipahu after he was seen abandoning a car in an illegal parking area yesterday afternoon.

Police responding to the call found that the car had been reported stolen. The officers located a suspect nearby who was later identified as the driver of the stolen car.

Charges are pending.


Two men arrested in theft, drug case

What began as a truancy check in 'Ewa Beach yesterday morning turned into a case involving car theft and drugs.

Police said a "weed and seed" officer was doing a truancy sweep when he saw two men, ages 18 and 63, sitting in a car near the corner of Papipi Street and Fort Weaver Road.

The officer ran a check on the license plate and found it did not match the car. He then checked the car's vehicle identification number and learned that the car had been reported stolen.

The two men were arrested on suspicion of multiple charges including car theft, promotion of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.


Boy accused of punching teacher

A 14-year-old Leilehua High School student could face second-degree assault charges for allegedly punching a teacher in the head yesterday.

Police said the teacher, 23, told them she was trying to break up a fight between two students when one of them struck her in the head.

Police were called and arrested the boy, who was later released without charges pending further investigation.
