ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
Young 'Hawaii' stars draw attention

Advertiser Staff

Are Ivan Sergei, in red shirt, and Eric Balfour upstaging "Hawaii" castmates Michael Biehn and Sharif Atkins? Not quite. Or not yet, at least.

But as NBC's cop show picks up steam, the two young actors are attracting attention as volatile, often humorous detectives.

Critics and fans have praised the duo as a high-energy complement to Biehn, who plays a veteran detective, and Atkins, who plays a Chicago-transplant. Throw in the third pair of partners — Linh Tamiya (Aya Sumika) and Kaleo (Peter Navy Tuiasosopo) — and it's an interesting mix, as you can see at 7 tonight.

Tommy Bahama to show fall and winter collection

This one is for aloha fashion fanatics and afternoon tea lovers: Tommy Bahama is presenting its fall and winter collection from 2 to 4:30 p.m. today at the Kahala Mandarin Oriental. The venue means high-end treats, including the "champagne of teas" from the Darjeeling Puttabong estate.

Cost is $24 per adult, with limited seating. Call 739-8895 for reservations. Guests receive gift bags, and there will be a raffle for prizes such as complimentary nights in a Dolphin Lagoon View room.
