AARP survey online

The positions of state House and Senate candidates on issues affecting many senior citizens are posted on the AARP Hawai'i Web site.
AARP, which advocates for seniors, asked candidates their positions on three issues: disclosing marketing expenses by drug companies, improving transparency and accountability in pharmacy benefit management, and state law that offsets Social Security retirement benefits against unemployment benefits. AARP supports the first two and opposes the third.
More than half of the 139 candidates responded, with most agreeing with AARP's positions.
In addition to posting the responses on its Web site (www.aarp.org/hi), AARP will mail voter guides to members statewide and distribute them at community events. "Our mission is to help people as they age, so we flex the power of our membership by focusing on the issues and holding elected officials accountable," said Alicia Maluafiti, AARP Hawai'i's advocacy director.
