And The Donald has wasted no time in trying to put fellow billionaire Mark Cuban in his place.
Cuban's show, "The Benefactor," shows at 8 tonight on KITV 4, the local ABC affiliate. Donald Trump's "The Apprentice 2" airs at 8:20 tonight on NBC affiliate KHNL. It is the series' second show of the season.
A budding feud between business icon Trump and Dallas Mavericks' owner Cuban could make for some great television on Thursday nights this fall.
Some point/counterpoint comments from both financial heavyweights, provided by a recent Chicago Sun-Times article:
Trump: "When you see how good 'The Apprentice' is, nobody's going to come close."
Cuban: "In ('The Apprentice'), the winner gets a job. In our show, the winner doesn't need a job." (The winner of "The Benefactor" gets $1 million).
Trump: "I just want (Cuban) to do better with the show than he's done with (his) Dallas basketball team. I do. I really do. I would like to see him do well on the show, because I think there's room perhaps for other knockoffs of 'The Apprentice.' "
Cuban: "All I want to say is I wish Donald nothing but the best for 'The Apprentice 2,' and I hope it does just as well as his casinos do."
